Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS)
Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS)
The Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) and Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) at the American Embassy in Beijing represent the interests of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in China. These responsibilities are principally accomplished via reporting commodity and trade developments to the USDA, coordinating policy issues with host government officials and promoting the sale of U.S. food, agricultural, forestry and fishery products. We provide trade services for local importing companies seeking U.S. products and U.S. companies wishing to develop markets in our region of responsibility. We have five offices in China – Office of Agricultural Affairs Office Beijing (OAA Beijing), Agricultural Trade Office Beijing (ATO Beijing), Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Beijing (APHIS Beijing), Agricultural Trade Office Shanghai (ATO Shanghai), and Agricultural Trade Office Guangzhou (ATO Guangzhou) to improve foreign market access for U.S. products, build new markets, improve the competitive position of U.S. agriculture in the global marketplace, and provide food aid and technical assistance to foreign countries.
