Close Up TPR Teacher Training

English Language Fellow Benjamin Clarke has been given a major role in directing the work of student teachers at  Xun Shan Primary School in Wenzhou.  He has created a lesson plan template which student teachers adapt on a weekly basis to current language learning goals.  Then, before the lessons are given, Clarke meets with the student teachers to provide editing and suggestions for their plans.  Together as a group they rehearse the words and actions needed to fully engage young learners.

Clarke also travels to  Xun Shan Primary School to teach model lessons which are observed by student teachers and school admnistrators and faculty.  In this photo he is shown providing post-lesson feedback to student teachers.  This feedback includes additional practice in the Total Physical Response teaching method.

Guess Who is Practicing Kung Fu?

English Language Fellow Benjamin Clarke traveled to Wudang Shan over the Spring Festival vacation with his family.  Everyone enjoyed the natural beauty and the magnificent temples.  The whole family also got some great contact with Chinese culture through Kung Fu lessons with Taoist martial arts experts.  In this photo we see sons Elijah and Isaiah practicing kicks with Shifu Guan.
