Diplomacy Envoy Michelle Kwan visits Renmin University-affiliated Middle School

Michelle Kwan encourages Beijing students to follow their dreams
On her first international travel, Public Diplomacy Envoy Michelle Kwan visited the elite Renmin University-affiliated Middle School on Thursday, January 18.  The school, partners with Andover and Exeter, treated Ms. Kwan to a dance performance by its 20-member dance troop, a troop soon traveling to the United States on a 22-perfomance tour.  Ms. Kwan also met with a dozen students to share her experiences as a figure skater and what it means to represent her country in this new role.  Ms. Kwan and the students discussed the importance of hard work and following one’s dreams.  Ms. Kwan’s persistence and optimism, coupled with her Chinese heritage, make her a particularly effective Ambassador for the United States.
