Online Discussion To Examine U.S. Visa Process
State Department official to discuss visa process, border security in USINFO webchat
Washington -- U.S. efforts to keep borders secure, to improve visa and entry processes and to welcome foreign visitors, students and businesspeople are the subject of a USINFO Webchat.
Join Tony Edson of the State Department's Bureau of Consular Affairs September 6 at 10:00 a.m. (1400 GMT) for an online discussion of U.S. “Secure Borders – Open Doors” policy in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. (See related article.)
Edson is deputy assistant secretary for visa services in the State Department's Bureau of Consular Affairs. From 2001 until 2005 he served as managing director of visa services and senior advisor for strategic planning to the visa services directorate. He has held a number of overseas assignments in Japan, Thailand, India and Indonesia.
