The Fourth Anniversary of the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks on the United States

Posted on September 09, 2005

The war against terrorism is a global fight to preserve our way of life against those who would destroy it.  This year the United States Embassy in Beijing joins people around the world to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks when thousands of people from 83 different countries, including 18 Chinese citizens, lost their lives.  As President Bush has stated, the terrorist attack on September 11 was perpetrated by those who believe that “by killing innocent civilians they can break our will.”*

This year we continue our practice of holding an Embassy community memorial ceremony to remember the victims of the 9/11 attacks and all victims of terrorism.  “Every September 11 we stop to remember and honor all the innocent victims of terrorism and those who still grieve for the loved ones they have lost and stand united to end the threat of terrorism around the world,” Ambassador Clark T. Randt Jr.

To deepen the understanding of the impact of the attacks, on Friday, September 09, 2005 we hosted a showing of the documentary “9/11” for University students.
