Remarks by Christopher R. Hill
Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs
Beijing International Airport
November 1, 2007
ASSISTANT SECRETARY HILL: Off to Seoul. See you later.
QUESTION: Did you meet with the Russian Ambassador?
ASSISTANT SECRETARY HILL: Yes, I met with the Russian Ambassador. Very nice conversation. Briefed him. He’s my colleague from Warsaw, you know.
QUESTION: Are the Russians planning to send nuclear experts to Yongbyon?
ASSISTANT SECRETARY HILL: I informed him that our arrangement is that all countries can and should participate in the disablement phase, so not just the U.S. So we would expect subsequent trips. This will go on for several weeks. So we would expect other countries to send representatives.
QUESTION: Is that your only meeting?
ASSISTANT SECRETARY HILL: I was at Beijing University. I spoke to students, and I had lunch there. Then I had the meeting with the Russian Ambassador, and now I’m here.
See you later. Bye bye.
QUESTION: Have a good trip.
ASSISTANT SECRETARY HILL: Thank you very much.
