Cummins in China Selected As Finalist for
2009 Secretary of State’s Award for Corporate Excellence

U.S. Ambassador to China Jon M. Huntsman announced today that Cummins is one of eleven finalists in the Secretary of State's prestigious 2009 Award for Corporate Excellence (ACE) competition, chosen from more than 42 nominations submitted by American ambassadors around the world.  ACE finalists are international business leaders who recognize the vital role that U.S. businesses play abroad as good corporate citizens.

Cummins was selected for its distinguished record of good corporate citizenship in China, especially for strongly encouraging employees to participate in community improvement work nationwide. The company, which has been doing business in China for more than 30 years, has 27 Community Improvement Teams in China, representing over 7,000 employees.

In 2008, more than 3,000 employees supported more than 50 projects throughout China with a focus on education, empathy, and the environment. Projects ranged from emergency disaster relief to developing junior achievement programs to building schools and libraries in impoverished areas of the country.  An article profiling Cummins’ involvement in China can be found at the following link:  http://www.america.gov/st/develop-english/2009/October/20091016164034meorerram0.7048151.html?CP.rss=true
