American Citizen Service

The American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit of the Consular Section assists American citizens in China. The unit provides passport services, birth registrations, assists with Federal benefits, offers notarial services, gives information on tax and voting, and provides advice and information to Americans visiting and residing in China, and provides guidance to Americans whose family members or friends have U.S. visa questions.

The ACS Unit also provides emergency assistance to American citizens in distress: when an American is destitute, arrested, separated from minor children, or sick. In an emergency, the Embassy Duty Officer can be reached at any time by calling (8610) 6532-3431.

Location & Office Hours

The American Citizen Services section is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday except American and Chinese holidays, between the hours of 8:30am-12:00pm and 2:00pm to 4:00pm.  On Wednesdays we are only open during the morning from 8:30-12:00pm.  Be sure to bring your passport for identification.
