U.S. Citizen Services

Appointment System for American Citizen Services

You must make an appointment to visit the U.S. Embassy Beijing's American Citizen Services (ACS) office via this website for all routine services, including:

  • Applying for  a U.S. passport for minors and adults - including renewal, lost/stolen and first issuance
  • Adding visa pages to a U.S. passport
  • Applying for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) and first U.S. passport for children born outside the United States
  • Notarial Services
  • Marriageability Affidavit

If you need more than one service (i.e. a passport renewal and a notary, or a passport renewal for one family member and additional visa pages for another family member), you must make TWO separate appointments for these services.  This procedure allows us to provide services in the most efficient manner.

Please click here to access the appointment calendar.  Please print out your appointment confirmation or save it on your computer for future tracking. If you are applying for a passport or extra visa pages, please fill out your application on line using the State Department forms

The entrance for American Citizen Services is at the east gate of the U.S. Embassy.  If you are visiting the American Citizen Services section, you do not need to wait in the same line as visa applicants.  When you arrive at the east gate, proceed directly to the Chinese guard station, and inform the guard you have an appointment with American Citizen Services section.  If you have a U.S. passport, please show it to the guard.

ACS BUSINESS HOURS: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 8:30a.m. - 12:00 noon, 2:00p.m. - 4:00p.m.; Wednesday: 8:30a.m. - 12:00 noon ONLY.

For the most up-to-date information on days the ACS Unit is closed, click here. Visitors may receive several services during the same visit to American Citizen Services. Please make a separate appointment for each individual service.

Please print out your appointment confirmation or save it on your computer for future tracking.

IMPORTANT REMINDER:  If you have an appointment with the American Citizen Services section, you do not need to wait in line with visa applicants before entering the Embassy.  Show your passport (or other photo ID) and your appointment confirmation sheet to the local guards, and they will let you in without waiting.

Please arrive at least (15) fifteen minutes before your appointment time to allow sufficient time to clear security and enter the waiting room.

Scheduled appointments will be automatically canceled for applicants who arrive more than (15) fifteen minutes after their scheduled time. Applicants who arrive late must make a new appointment via the ACS website.
