Ambassador's Fund for Cultural Preservation

Through the Ambassador's Fund for Cultural Preservation, the Department of State is helping eligible countries around the globe preserve historic sites and manuscripts, museum collections, and traditional forms of music, dance, and language. The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs administers the Fund, established by Congress in 2001 to assist less-developed countries in preserving their cultural heritage. Funded projects include technical support for the restoration of historic buildings; assessment and conservation of museum collections; archaeological site preservation; documentation to save threatened traditional crafts; improved storage conditions for archives and manuscripts; and documentation of indigenous languages.

The U.S. Embassy is now accepting applications for the 2010 Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) program.   Applicants can find more information about the program at the AFCP website: http://exchanges.state.gov/afcp/index.html.  Applications must be submitted to huhx@state.gov and turleyma@state.gov no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 30, 2009.  Contact HU Hejuan and Margreet Turley with any questions at 8531-3000.
