Time
The 2008 Summer Olympics will be held from August 8, 2008 to August 24, 2008, with the opening ceremony at the Beijing National Stadium in Beijing.

Slogan
The slogan for the 2008 Summer Olympics is One World, One Dream. It conveys idea of people in China to believe in the world as one unit and to create a bright future together with people from the rest of the world.

Emblem
The 2008 Summer Olympics emblem is a Chinese seal entitled "Dancing Beijing". The main part of the emblem is a red dancing figure resembling the Chinese character Jing, which stands for Beijing. The open arms of the Chinese character symbolize the invitation of China to the world to share in its rich culture and history.

Mascots
The five Fuwa, translated as good luck dolls, will serve as the official mascots of the 2008 Summer Olympics, carrying a message of friendship and peace--and China's blessings--to children worldwide. The mascots embody the natural characteristics of four of China's popular animals -- the fish, the panda, the Tibetan antelope, the swallow -- and the Olympic flame. Each Fuwa represents a color of the Olympic rings.

Medal:
The 2008 Summer Olympics medals are designed with inspiration coming from "bi", China's ancient jade piece inscribed with dragon pattern. The medals, made of jade and gold, symbolize nobility and traditional Chinese values of ethics and honor.

Torch:
The 2008 Summer Olympics torch resembles an ancient scroll and uses a traditional Chinese design known as "lucky cloud", which expresses the idea of harmony. The torch demonstrates the artistic and technical level of China. It also conveys the message of a Green Olympics, a High-tech Olympics and the People’s Olympics.

There will be 302 Events in 28 sports. Some events will be held outside Beijing, namely football (soccer) in Qinhuangdao, Shanghai, Shenyang and Tianjin, equestrian in Hong Kong and sailing in Qingdao.
